The Little Havana Rocktober cup is back and better than ever.   Thanks to our great partners, we are adding a new trash collection component this year.

We all know that Charm City has a bit of a trash problem.  Here is your chance to roll up your sleeves and help.   Thanks to our good friends at Back River Restoration Committee (BRRC) and Blue Water Baltimore(BWB) fishing and non-fishing participants alike can help clean up the waterways that we all love.

BRRC and BWB will lead teams in targeted areas (to be announced shortly) around the city, and join the our fishing tournament participants back at Little Havana when the party begins at 4PM.

Fishing tournament participants can also help our while on the water by taking advantage of the part of the day when the tide has slacked and the fish aren’t biting, to clean up some trash.

We have scouts heading out to find the areas in and around the harbor that need some attention, and will share the hot spots in the coming weeks.

There will be one Captains/Participants meeting this year and it will be held at Little Havana on 10/19 starting at 6pm.  CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR FISHING and view complete rules and Calcutta information.  If you don’t have an iAnglerTournament log in name, please make sure to sign up for a free account before signing up for the tournament.

The iAnglerTournament system makes judging and entry nice and easy and all through a smart phone application.   If you are still using an old digital camera or flip phone, please make sure you’re in line by 4pm to have your picture judged.

2016 Results

For the second year in a row, anglers had to battle high winds and seas while fishing the 3rd annual Rocktober  Cup. Despite the bad weather, 67 anglers registered this year for a chance at a trip to the Florida Keys, OC Maryland, an Engel Cooler loaded with goodies, and $1,000 payout in calcutta money.

It was a team of anglers from Annapolis that dominated the leader board for 2016. Joey Hurley took top honors, his teammate Ron McMorrow took second place, and for the second year in a row, Matthew Bright took third place. Here are the final results:

1st place – Joey Hurley – 28″ 12:47pm

2nd place – Ron McMorrow – 26 3/4″ 11:41am

Hurley also won calcuttas A (longest individual fish) & B (longest individual stringer) with his 28″fish, earning the team a combined $1,000 in calcutta payouts.

The after party was held at Little Havana, where everyone celebrated and took chances at raffles, including a Bud Lite football recliner, a gift basket from Captain Morgan, and lots of other items from Costa, Huk, Aftco, and more. Overall, the tournament was a success, raising over $2,000 for Coastal Conservation Association Maryland.

2015 Wrap-up

The 2015 Rocktober Cup had its fair share of drama. With high winds and rough seas, 53 anglers battled it out on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay to take top honors. First and second place were tied, so the winner was chosen based on the time the fish was released. Here’s how it all ended:

  1. Tony Moreira – 26 3/4″ fish released at 1:29pm.
  2. Nathan Iager – 26 3/4″ fish released at 1:59pm.
  3. Matthew Bright – 23″ fish released at 9:40am.

Alex Kouhi was the only Jr Angler entered and released a fish, earning him the Top Jr. Angler award.

While his fish was released later, Iager was entered in the additional calcuttas earning him a trip to Ocean City, Maryland, as well as, some spending money.

A big thank you to all who participated in this year’s tournament and we hope to see you in 2016!
